Road trip!

So there I was working no the surfboard someone commissioned a while ago and my mind started to wander. I have lots of hand tools but I don't have an adze. Adze are hard to find, almost extinct really, yet, I always thought of adze as part of the holy trinity of woodwork tools along with the axe and the chisel. Unfortunately, only in more primal place do you still find the adze still in use. I step out of the shop and into the house and bid my wife and kids good by as I set out on the quest to find an adze. I wondered if the boss would let me use his jet?

-first stop, Cartagena Columbia... Lots of concrete and emerald but as it turn out, not to many woodworking shop.

Not to be discouraged, let's try the Amazon. I heard they have a good wooden boat tradition...

I rode in a river pekepeke in search of some native tribe....

They painted my face and played with my iPad.... In return they let me try their so unstable pirogue.

Unfortunately, I could not say adze in their language so we could not make a deal. So from there, after a few fuel stop riding the Carbon Comet....

We were off to Tanzania. Yea, that s Killimanjaro my friend, the roof of Africa!

There I found a Massai sculptor who sold me a war club and an adze for 20 $ us. Too bad we spent 350000$ in transportation to get it. Of course, since we made it half way around the world, might as well carry on and see If I can take some more picture of wooden boats.

Next stop Seychelles,Cambodia, Tailand, Papua , Fiijii, Karabati, Hawaii and then SaltSpring island.
Almost forgot to mention my girlfriend Anna

Conda.....

Location:Tanzania
