Kayak Build Off part2

Busy June at Sprucedragon boat shop. After a few week hiatus, John came back to finish the project. We toiled for a few more days and manage to complete both kayaks. Proving that, even though not easy, it is possible to build a Greenland kayak in 5 days.
Claire's boat is also completed and we should varnish it this Monday.
In order to keep the boatbuilding itch at bay, I have also begun the construction of a boat for myself that I intend to build as a super light/ super fast kayak to perhaps dabble in racing next year. Kris Greenland boat came at 30 ish pounds for 17 feet. I intend to find out if an even lighter boat is possible by using red cedar deck beams and laminated stringers.

Then there is my son little canoe... Built from shop offcuts, painter cotton tarp and treehouse paint. That should be a blog post in itself....
