Paddle on craig list.

Greenland paddle for sale 133$ for the kayaker on your Christmas list.

I would love to say that Greenland paddles are the best paddles there is. But honestly, I never paddled with anything else so I can’t judge impartially. I know they are great cruising paddles and they are easy on the wrist since they are not feathered. They are not too bad against the wind because of the narrow blade shape. They are fantastic for rolling because they are buoyant and create a lot of lift during sweeping motion. As a matter of fact, many rolls can’t be performed with other paddles.
I’ve built a dozen so far and the carving is always a rewarding process. I can turn a plank into a paddle in about 5 hours now.
I love to use vertical grain red cedar because it is so light. It is however a tender wood not renowned for its impact resistance. Just don’t use it for martial arts practice and treat it with care when you are out of the water.
I can add a harder wood for the tip but I rarely bother. I am just careful.

The one I have for sale will be finished on Monday evening. The tips will be epoxied and the paddle will be oiled, sanded and oiled again. Stay away from varnished Greenland paddles because they will give you blisters.

I would take special orders if anyone is interested in different wood for a paddle. If you want to carve your own, contact me for free advice. I d be glad to help.
